Difference between c7800s

Hello all,

Can someone please explain to me the difference between the:

c7800-100nas

and the

c7800-200nas

I'm struggling to find anything on it via google, other web sites and being that I see a price difference of $30 I just would like to know what the exact difference is and apparently even Best Buy can't relay the correct information past a hypothesis.  Thanks in advance.

Normally, that digit would denote the hardware version: C7800[v1] and
C7800v2.  A quick visit to http://netgear.com/support does not suggest
the existence of a "v2", so it might be very new (or at least too new
for Netgear's apparently retarded web site).

Thank you! I like you couldn't figure it out...makes sense v2 but who am I...I'm just a peon in the world of buying a decent modem 🙂  I think I'll just stick with the CM1200 and buy a separate router to do the trick.

The 1200 is a good modem. Broadcom based.

It's recommended to have a stand alone modem vs a modem router combo unit.

Re: Difference between c7800s

I’m evaluating purchase of C7800 for use on xfinity.  Best Buy is offering the 200nas at lower cost than the 100nas.  B&H Photo is only offering the 100nas at the original MSRP.  Amazon has decent price but does not specify 200nas or 100nas.  It would seem that the 200 would be the latest technology but Netgear site does not give detail of these 2 models.  So, before I purchase, any more thoughts?

Re: Difference between c7800s

So after even further research I still couldn't tell the difference between the two of them. I then started researching other posts. According to previous posts nas100 is version one, where as nas200 is their version two. At this point I would add why buy that when if it's not a major outage, I'd wait for a 802.11ax version which I think will be sooner than later.

   That's -100NAS and -200NAS.

The non-psychics in your audience might have no good idea of how
urgent your need might be.

Another thing to consider is that "newer" and "better" are spelled
differently for a reason.  You can expect a "v<N+1>" model to cost less
to manufacture than a "v<N>" model; there's no particular reason to
expect any other kind of improvement.  For example, I've seen no
evidence for the D7000v2 being better in any way than the D7000[v1].
(No dedicated WAN/Internet Ethernet port, more firmware bugs, ...)

Re: Difference between c7800s

I too had this question. This is what I received back from tech support.

According to them C7800-200NAS and C7800-100NAS have exactly the same hardware.

The only difference is the FW. Spectrum needs at least FW version v3.01.40 or above
to be able to go online. It won't work or get updates from Spectrum if on a
lower FW version. 200NAS loaded with v3.01.40 in production 100NAS loaded with v3.01.36 in production That means, C7800-200NAS supports SPECTRUM while 100NAS doesn’t. Note: C7800-200NAS is not V2. The C7800v2 project got canceled previously.
