Since the factory reset did not resolve the multi-gig port issue, I must return this product.

The port got worse after the factory reset!

Is the CAT cable UTP or STP?

If it has SSTP on the cover, does that mean it is STP?

Re: New - CAX80 Firmware Version 2.1.3.7 Released

Even with the new firmware and different cables from different brands (all rated for more than 2.5 Gbps), the connection on this port is extremely unstable.  As soon as I turn off the WiFi radios, the issue disappears COMPLETELY.

Since with the WiFi radios off, this becomes a very expensive cable modem, I must return it to Amazon at 2.5 Gbps.

Re: New - CAX80 Firmware Version 2.1.3.7 Released

Looking for CAT# and STP, means Shielded Twisted Pair and the plug ends have metal covering around the plug end portion.

Reason for asking, I found that my RAXE500 was mysteriously rebooting when I had it connected to my CAX80 on the 2.5Gb port. I was initially using CAT6 U(un-sheilded) TP. After changing to CAT6A STP, the RAXE500 stopped mysteriously rebooting.

Wondering if there is a 2.5Gb port and cabling noise issue. I let NG know what I found.

Thanks.  It took me 6 tries and 15 minutes to add that post.  🙂 Every time I tried to click on the post button, I would get the message that no internet connection was available.  Yet my work laptop also connected to one of the regular Gig ports on this device is working fine with no problems.

Both devices have the STP type cabling, so it is the connection with the WiFi.  I turned off the radios and everything works like a dream.

Ok thanks for confirming. I guess return it. NG needs to address the 2.5Gb port with wifi enabled. Seems like something is causing problems HW wise IMO.

Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Yes.  That seems to be the cause.  I was really thankful for the forum user that spent all that time testing and found that the issue is the WiFi.

It was a great way to confirm the problem.  I really do like this unit very much.  My internet signal levels are incredibly better than my prior cable modem.  Just can't have it all I guess.  🙂

Understand. We've make NG aware of this. Hoping they can fix it. No idea when that will be though.

@FURRYe38 firmware v 2.1.3.7 is causing the CAX80 router to reboot several times a day. Multiple reports from several users in this thread:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Cable-Modems-Routers/CAX80-keeps-rebooting/m-p/2231370#M38066

When will a patch be released?

Not seeing that problem with mine.  It has not rebooted at all since the update to that version.  Now, if we talk about the multi-gig port not working, that is definitely a problem.

Only solution is to turn off the WiFi radio.

Re: New - CAX80 Firmware Version 2.1.3.7 Released

Has anyone tried applying v.7 FW manually, after it's applied, factory reset and then setup from scratch.

I've NOT seen any odd reboots on my CAX80 with v.7 loaded.

One main issue that would cause a reboot is that the ISP signal has stopped or signal on the line is degraded. Remember the CAX80 will auto reboot if ANY signal on the line  becomes bad or the signal completely stops for any reason.

Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.

Re: New - CAX80 Firmware Version 2.1.3.7 Released

I'm having the same issues with reboots post-update.

From what I was seeing in the logs, it appears to be some issue with the firmware detecting DOS LAND Attacks falsely until it locks up and reboots.

After downgrading the software, the issue disappeared.

Upon re-installing the .7, the issues happen again.

NG definitely needs to do something about this ASAP, 2.1.3.7 is broken, period:

Did you factory reset the modem and and setup from scratch after v.7 Fw was applied?

What ISP are you using?

Re: New - CAX80 Firmware Version 2.1.3.7 Released

I'm on COX, had them come out and check and they couldn't find any issues with any of the wiring.

I did do a factory reset as well before the manual .7 update.
