Nighthawk AC1900 Model C7000 came out of the box with Port Scan and DoS Protection disabled

My C7000 came out of the box with the Port Scan and DoS Protection disabled.   Even shows that way on the picture in the manual even though the description advises against disabling it.   Is this a mistake?  It took me a while to find it.   I was getting a few attacks that seem to be causing momentary drop outs.  Probably not a big deal for a home network.  But probably should be corrected?

I think this old thread puts it in perspective pretty well (link).  It's not that big of a deal if it's off.
