Thinking of a C7000 how does it compare to an R7000?

I currently have a separate modem and a R7000 router.   I am considering switching to an combination C7000 modem/router.  The R7000 covers my home well, and the speed is acceptable.  I see there are no antenna on the C7000.  How does it do for coverage?  My current modem is only a  16x4 and the C7000 modem is a 24x8.  This fits better with the service that I have from my ISP.  

I am also planning on putting in a 12U cabinet to contain my growing environment.  I would like to put the C7000 in the cabinet.    Will that cause issues with the signal, or should I stick with a separate modem/router?  Something that has antennas which I can switch to external antennas?

you dont want to put a WIFI router in a metal cabinet as that would restrict coverage. even if it is a Plastic cabinet, it preffered to keep it outside.

c7000 and R7000 are both AC1900 but in general Router only units of same power offer better coverage (without commenting on specifically for C7000 vs R7000).

if you already have a R7000, there is a reason for you to upgrade to C7000. 

instead, you can think about spending $$ on a newer D3.1 modem if your ISP supports it and then go with newer Mesh Router or 11ax when you wan to upgrade the Router.

caveat: only thing is you can change from 2 box solution to 1 box solution if you are after that.

I have a specific reason why I want to make the change, so back to my original questions; how does the C7000 compare to the R7000?  How is the coverage, especially without external antennas?  Also as I asked, can I put the C7000 in a 12U cabinet?   Will the cabinet restrict the coverage, especially without antennas?
