Wi-Fi speed is too slow

I live in a 1000 ft.² apartment. I have a 1Gb/s plan from wow internet. The modem/router supports a max speed of 680Mb/s. Wow promises up to 80% speed so 800Mb/s which is still more than what the router can support. However, within 3 ft on 5Ghz I am getting 320Mb/s which is considerably less than 680 MB/s and in my room which is less than 12 ft and 2 walls away i am getting 75 to 100 Mb/s. What can I do to fix this and improve my speed.

Re: Wi-Fi speed is too slow

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Cable Modem products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Cable modems. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Re: Wi-Fi speed is too slow

5Ghz AC WiFi devices will max out at anywhere from 300-500Mpbs. You'll not see much over that with the current wifi on this model modem. Wired speeds you should see near 600Mpbs.

If your ISP is supporting 1Gb on there servies, you'll need a different modem and router.

Re: Wi-Fi speed is too slow

I am not even getting 300-500 though. For me it maxes out at 75 -100 when I am using it. Is there a tune I can do or something similar?

Re: Wi-Fi speed is too slow

Be sure the 5Ghz radio is set to max connection rate.

Ensure WMM is enabled.

Check the connection rate seen between your wireless device and while near the modem router unit. 6 feet you should see connection rates between the device and mode. Check the spec sheet of what is supported on this modem.

AC1600 WiFi—300+1300Mbps†

https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/datasheet/en/C6250.pdf

So 300Mpbs on 2.4Ghz and 1300Mpbs on 5Ghz.

Need to check to see if your devices at connecting on the 5Ghz radio.

Try loading up WiFisweetspots on your devices to see live connection rates while near the modem.
