Wired CM400 modem activation

I want to activate my CM400 modem for Xfinity internet-only service so I have a separate wired laptop for internet access in addition to my XFi gateway.  I can see the CM400 from the laptop, but cannot get internet access through it.  Have had lengthy online and store visit contacts with Xfinity, but so far only get sent to their gateway activation link.  Still cannot get access through modem.

Be sure to have the ISP help you activate the modem on there system. 

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the Modem and PC. Remove any wifi routers between the modem and PC. 

Power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON while the PC is connected to the modem. 

Be sure your PC is using automatic IP addressing and not static IP addressing.
