ac1200 how do i stop others from using my router

Which model NG router do you have? AC1200 isn't a model#.

AC1200 and AC1220 aren't models. 

But your simplest route to keep others from using your router would be to change your wifi password and not to give them access to plugging a device into it. 

go to netgear.com/support/   and type in your actual model. Then you'll have access to the manual that walks you through changing passwords.
