Unless you are trying to access your Tivo remotely, you should not need to open any ports. The router by default does not block any ports in the outbound direction.

I actually had to open 9 ports but figured out how to do it using the Netgear genie under advanced while I was on hold with customer service and everything is perfect. I have to give props to Netgear for genie.

Congrats on getting it working.
I'm curious to know which ports you had to open? According to Tivo's own support page, you do not need to open any inbound ports:

I remember a 8080, 8081, a 5227? Not sure but the TiVo had them all listed and it was easier than I thought. Never even got a chance to customer support.

8080, 8081 and 5223 are listed in that link as outbound ports that must be open, not inbound.
