stray IP address

I have a C6900 set up as a gateway and DHCP server. I am using the default ip range (192.168.0.1-255). recently, during one of my periodical IP scans, a new IP address (192.168.100.1) popped up. It leads back to the C6900.

This is neither and address that I have provisioned, or is within my DHCP range. It doesn't show up anywhere in the systems provisioning. What is it, and where did it come from?

Re: stray IP address

Its programming into all C series modems by default. You can access the gateway using that IP address, or if you conigure the modem for modem only mode, then you can use the .100.1 address to access the modems web page there as the .0.1 address will no longer be usable when in modem only mode.

It's a DOCSIS standard, not specific to Netgear.  You might try a Web
search for terms like, say:

      192.168.100.1  DOCSIS
