tells me no internet when I am on

Cannot login to routerlogin.com.  As instructed, I have cleared the browsing history seveal times and it still tells me I am not connected. So I have not been able to change the name or create a secure password. After disconnecting, I am unable to connect. After trying a bunch of stuff for up to thirty minutes, it SOMETIMES comes on line without me knowing what I did. All I want is to go to routerlogin.com , create a secure password and log on when I am in range. But that seems to be too much to ask for.

What is the device about which we're talking?

> Cannot login to routerlogin.com. [...]

When you did _what_, exactly?  "Cannot" is not a useful problem
description.  It does not say what you did.  It does not say what
happened when you did it.  As usual, showing actual actions with their
actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful
than vague descriptions or interpretations.

   By whom?

_What_ still tells you that you are "not connected"?  Are you using
some web browser or other, on some kind of computer or other, or what?
How are these things connected?

"disconnecting" what from what?  Re: "unable", see "Cannot", above.

With my weak psychic powers, I also don't know which "bunch of stuff"
you might have tried.

Does "in range" imply some kind of wireless connection?  Are you
talking about a wireless-network "password", or a router administration
"password", or what?

Expecting anyone to guess what your equipment inventory might be, how
any of it is connected, what you're doing, and what happens when you do
it may be unreasonable.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Compare with what
you're doing.  If nothing else, look for "Types of Logins".
