AirCard 770s no battery error

Intermittently my AirCard 770s displays a no battery error. Removing the battery resets the AirCard and the AirCard works ok for 15 minutes then displays the no battery error again. The battery is fully charged. Is the battery the problem or is the AirCard causing this?

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

I'm having the same problem. It just started happening two days ago. Is the battery bad? And if it is, where do you buy a new one? I can't find one on the Sierra Wireless page anywhere.

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

I would firstly try to perform a factory reset to see if the issue disappears. Failing that I would contact the returns area to organize a replacement battery. Maybe try another battery if you can find one. Possibly a carrier store.

Hi All,

I am an employee of NETGEAR Australia. I would recommend getting your device replaced if factory reset or new battery does not resolve your issues. It sounds like a hardware issue.

Having the same problem. Anyone try changing the battery to see if that fixes the issue?

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

I am having the same problem. The only answer that this forum seems to have is go buy yourself a new one. I will, but it will not be AT&T.

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

I have been having the same problem for a few months. Sometimes after I take out the battery and reset it, it will last for hours. Sometimes only a few minutes. It usually does it also when my computer is inactive for 10 minutes. I have done a factory reset, verified that the software was up to date, replaced the battery, cleaned the battery contacts, added a small piece of business card to the battery to make sure that it was snug and still having the problem. It seems like most of us started having the problem at about the same time frame. That is interesting. It is really too bad. This is the best hotspot that I have used and I have been using them for years. (high speed internet is not available in the rural area that I live and work on the computer from home everyday)

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

I was told that I would have to purchase a new device because mine was out of warranty and I was not eligible for an upgrade.  I will not be renewing my service on this device in October.  This is the second one to do this with me. Exact problems everyone else is saying.

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

Remove the battery all together and just use plug in power supply at home/work or car.  The read out will still stay 'No Battery' but it will work.  If you must use battery consider buying a new unit or use warranty route if still avaliable.  My unit is out of warranty and I paid cash for the D thing.  I may dump AT&T for that reason.  Good luck!

Same problem, same time frame.  What is this, planned obsolescence?  Having this happen exactly one year into a two year plan is a PIA.

Curious, did you try removing the batteryband just use the power cord?  Did it work for you?  Mark

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

I am another with the same issue.  It appears mine works without the battery, at least for the last 10 minutes.  Hasn't worked for 2 weeks with one trip to AT&T and suggested replacement.....

Mine's working without the battery, a better option than having to replace it right now.  Thanks for the tip.

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

With just the power cord it works continously MOST of the time but every now and then it reboots itself and I have to reconnect.  It is a little annoying but I can live with it for now.  My guess is the issue will get worse over time.  I am angry I will have to buy a new hotspot and have doubts about reliability.  I wonder if a hacker was able to mess the device up through the Internet somehow.  Good luck!

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

Having the same problem here, device lasted a little over one year.  I think if enough people are having this issue, then netgear needs to do something about it.  Shouldn't have to purchase a new device.

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

Well! After calls to at&t, Sierra, and Netgear, I am told I need to purchase a  new battery because they only last about a year and the old one could be causing all the no battery and connection problems - which still sometimes says battery is at 100%. New batteries can be found on Amazon for $10 which is reasonable if the battery is the problem. Yes, sometimes it works with the battery removed, but not other sessions.

I agree it's curious so many are having the same issues. I would not have found out except Netgear insisted on my registering. Sierra sold to Netgear so batteries are labelled either way.

I have been connected almost 20", but earlier it was just about 3". My partner is tech challenged so we both are not happy.

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

That's sort of good news, I can live with $10 a year for a new battery.  I'm curious to see whether or not this solves the problem once and for all.

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

I tried a new battery - worked for a day and right back to no bat error. Went back to ATT and got sold a cheaper model of the same- Battery not so good but the one I bought works well in it. We should get an extended warrenty for the piece of junk.

You can try a different battery but I have doubts it will work.  I bought one and it didn't work. Maybe I got a bad battery?

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error UPDATE

I used the 770s without the battery as someone suggested, but eventually that was sketchy and needed to be re-started all the time.

Went on Amazon and found the Sierra Wireless W-5 Replacement Battery with the same specs as my original battery (under $10 now).

Worked fine for one day, now back to the same No Battery and Critical low-power errors.

Build date on my unit was 9/30/2014 and it started in with the errors exactly a year later.  Very frustrating.

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

I went to ATT late Sept. and they sold me a cheaper Netgeat model - looks the same but does not have options on the device - you have to sign in ti att-wifi to set up and change settings.  Worked fine for a month - not it powers done every 10 min. getting a warrenty one in a few days but after two that failed I don't have confidence ?  anyone have a better product ?

Re: AirCard 770s no battery error

No need to buy anything new. I had the same problem (no battery & critical low battery messages) and tried everything everyone else had tried to no avail. Then I tried something I had done with a different device out of desperation a few years ago. Remove both the battery and the SIM card. Leave them out for about 10 minutes. Then reinsert the SIM card and then reinstall the battery. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
