Re: SPH200D Server connection failed
I am experiencing the exact same problem. The server connection for skype login fails. On the handset it says "Server connect failed." On the administrative web interface it says "Server connection failed." There is nothing wrong with the skype account, login confirmed on other devices. Also confirmed that this problem occurs regardless of what router or port the SPH200D is connected to, tried several different routers where other devices connect fine. Also, the SPH200D's network stack appears fine -- it works whether with static IP or with DHCP; connectivity is confirmed by being able to reach the admin web interface.

Re: SPH200D Server connection failed
I am having this issue as well. Although I noticed that the problem may have begun when my Microsoft Live password was changed. I really do hope that Netgear can help fix this problem.

Re: SPH200D Server connection failed
This device is EOL and we no longer have egineering support for this deivce and Microsoft already ended support to SkypeKit software since 2013. Without Skypekit, applications or devices like the SPH won't work anymore. It's not just the SPH devices that are affected, other devices such as Skype Dual Phone is also affected.

Re: SPH200D Server connection failed
Hi Darren,
Since about July 2017.my SPH200D unit too now says error message "Server connection failed"
From other postings on this page it seems that July has brought about a universal sudden death instigated by "The Great and Powerfull **** " flexing its muscles.
I can talk to the SPH200D unit through my BT Broadband Hub which recognises its presence but cannot log on to Skype getting the above error as typically seen by others.
Paging of Dual function handset works but cannot use it now even as a landline phone.
Are these units now just pieces of historic junk or is there something to be salvaged ?
What would be an acceptable alternative ?
Best regards,
Brian.

Re: SPH200D Server connection failed
What we could do with is for some kind person to come up with a firmware update removing/switching off skype altogether so leaving us with a useable dect phone with savable contacts phone book, it will be sad to just turn it into a Paperweight
