Search for a dual wan router.
Then you can connect both the spectrum modem to it and the MR1100 to it.
You can load balance, setup fail-over.
but the mr1100 doesn't have dual wan options to set that up with.

OK, I like that answer. I'm also open to suggestion as to model and manufacturer. I have the Spectrum provided modem with my 'ultra' package (400mb) and when the installer showed up I got him to provide the RG11 cable in case I will upgrade, later. With all the services going to 'streaming' and hogging the bandwidth, I'm sure I will need all available.
So, feel free to elaborate on a router and some pointers as to where to go to study about those boxes.
Thanks, I do appreciate your comments and suggestions....

Netgear does have dual wan routers but they tend to be business grade devices.
make them more expensive if purchased new. I've seen people snag them used of ebay for fairly reasonable as corporations upgrade. Like the FVS336G
Other options are EdgeRouter has some dual wan capable routers that are pretty solid.
