mr1100 night hawk m1/reload problem/TFTP method/ .spk instead .img or .chk

Hi, MR1100 night hawk M1 used for 2 years, all ok 2,4 ghz except (5Ghz), now problem perpetual reload and blanking blue/amber light or fix amber. Reset not working.

Tried to use TFTP method on Mac but last software version in .spk instead of .img or .chk... ?

MR1100-100EUS_23113509_NTG9x50C_12.06.11.00_00_Generic_10.03.secc.spk

Impossible to expand or use...

Any solution?

Thanks a lot !

Hi Schumaku, thanks for the reply. Using my MacBook Air, on TFTP mode (terminal mode) seems I need to expand the update. Problem is, apple doesn't expand .spk...

Looking for an update able to expand and drop on TFTP. Regards

It's in no way a compressed archive, nothing to expand. tftp would not do it anyways - it's a simple direct file transfer. Unpacking the zip archive should net be an issue, isn't it?

Thanks again, yes, no problem with the Zip.

I will try again in TFTP mode. Or with a PC if not working.

No other solution to restart ?

Its a shame, that the MR1100 is blocked  on reboot mode with no reason...

Re: mr1100 night hawk m1/reload problem/TFTP method/ .spk instead .img or .chk

...still some problems... 🙄

1) modem doesn't blink amber, and trying to start then shutdown itself.

Or by long (10') pushing ON button, fast blinking blue/amber then fix amber and <downloading software update> on display. Then nothing...

2) on apple network preferences, we never had LAN adapter saying "connected" even tcp/ip > IPv4 set properly... (192.168.1.10 / 255.255.255.0 / 192.168.1.1)

3) I never had this extracting like said :

  1. Extract the ZIP file to your desktop.
The firmware file format is either .img or .chk.

Just have .spk

4) finally TFTP on Terminal says that:

[tftp> binary [tftp> putMR1100-100EUS_23113509_NTG9×50C_12.06.11.00_00_Generic_10.03.sec.spk

Re: mr1100 night hawk m1/reload problem/TFTP method/ .spk instead .img or .chk

@Ottocinque Keep in mind the KB entries mentioning "The firmware file format is either .img or .chk." do -not- refer to the Cell Service Mobile Hotspot Modems, AirCards, & Mobile Routers models - read the list of models under the "This article applies to:".

This is the way to download the firmware from the cloud, while connected to the mobile network, or while connected to a LAN with DHCP and Internet access - and does not apply to a tftp load.

Almost certainly, it's not in a status to upload the firmware by tftp again.

No idea on how to force the MR1100 (from a partial running level) to tftp mode (the same loader IP like the other Netgear models is just a wild guess). @JohnPeng please.
