Baikal for ReadyNAS Duo (v1, Sparc)

I'm wondering whether anyone has managed / attempted to run Baikal on ReadyNAS Duo (Sparc).

It's much lighter than OwnCloud and for me it would serve the main tasks: CalDAV and CardDAV.

Currently I'm using OwnCloud but that's pretty heavy for the little Duo.

Am I alone with that idea? Hopefully not...

Looking for comments...

Finally I've got a ReadyNAS Pro 6 with OS 6.7.5 - and thus I'm able to use Baikal (aka "Contacts and Calendars Server" app).

Re: Baikal for ReadyNAS Duo (v1, Sparc)

Hi WSJ,

Welcome to the community!

ReadyNAS Duo (4.1.x) is already EOL. Having Baikal as an additional add-on is unlikely. If you want to check the add-ons related to SQL, calendar and etc. all of them are available here.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Kind regards,

Re: Baikal for ReadyNAS Duo (v1, Sparc)

I'm not expecting Netgear to provide such an Add-On.
But I was asking the community whether anyone has such plans in mind - or can judge the feasibility.

Since there's even an Owncloud Add-On, it should be technically feasible to support Baikal.

Perhaps reach out directly to @WhoCares_ either via PM or at rnxtras.com.  He can likely give you an accurate assessment very quickly.

Actually, I had Baikal up and running once but can't remember on what ReadyNAS platform 😉 I'll have a look but it should be doable even for Sparc based systems.

Re: Baikal for ReadyNAS Duo (v1, Sparc)

What version are we talking about? 0.2.7 which would be the latest stable version or 2.0alpha/git? 😉

I'd prefer the stable version.

Re: Baikal for ReadyNAS Duo (v1, Sparc)

Since version 0.3.0 Baikal requires PHP 5.5

Latest version is 0.4.6.

Do you still intend to invest some time for freaks like me?

Actually I'm using ownCloud primarily for calDav, so Baikal would be the best choice for ReadyNAS Duo v1 (Sparc) since it's much more lightweight.

Or do you have some documents on how to build Add-Ons for ReadyNAS Duo v1?

I know that previously such was available, but I cannot find it anymore.

Cheers, Wolfgang

Re: Baikal for ReadyNAS Duo (v1, Sparc)

Since I'm already working on PHP 5.6 for Sparc Baikal should be possible as well. It really depends on how much PHP 5.6 refuses to be compiled on Sparc.

Radicale / Baikal for ReadyNAS Duo (v1, Sparc)

Well, maybe Radicale would suit ReadyNAS Duo v1 even better - since it "does not depend on any library. It is known to work on Python 2.6, 2.7, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 and PyPy > 1.9" according to the "user documentation".
