Man Pages
I know that this question was answered by Chirpa a few years ago but the forum wouldn't let me post to the old thread. That said, I followed Chirpa's instructions and modified /etc/passwd and /etc/group and then installed man-db via "apt-get install man-db". Man is "working" but I get the following response every time I use man...
Can anyone help an idiot out?
Thanks,
homenas:/var# grep man /etc/passwd
man:x:6:12:man:/var/cache/man:/bin/sh
homenas:/var# grep man /etc/group
man:x:12:
homenas:/var# man ls
No manual entry for ls
See 'man 7 undocumented' for help when manual pages are not available.
Can anyone help an idiot out?
Thanks,

Re: Man Pages
Well reinstalling 'man' will put the guts there, but docs for each program won't be there by default. Pre-installed apps would have the man pages removed, to save firmware size. If you apt-get other stuff, man entries for those should show up.
Try this:
# apt-get install htop
# man 5 htop
Try this:
# apt-get install htop
# man 5 htop
