Squid or Other Proxy Server
Hi All,
Is Squid available for the OS6, I have been running in on my NVX+ for years but it no longer works, was wondering if there is something for OS6.
I factory reset a Ultra 2 and installed on that last week and Squid is still crashing and having to be restarted and "The proxy server is refusing connections"
only to find it with a grey dot in FrontView

Re: Squid or Other Proxy Server
Hi retzlaff,
In the apps or add-ons list for OS6, we do not have a proxy server add-on available. Let's check with @super_poussin if there's an alternative. What firmware are you running in your Ultra 2 unit? Did you get the add-on here?
Looking forward to your response.
Kind regards,
BrianL

Re: Squid or Other Proxy Server
The Ultra 2 is running 4.2.27 same as the NVX.
Funny thing is same problem on both units. The Ultra 2 was factory reset and all that is installed is Squid.
Yes i am running 1.2 from the link provided
Many thanks

Hi retzlaff,
Let me check if there's something we can do to fix the issue on this add-on.

The apps are almost always done by third parties, not Netgear.
You could reach out to @WhoCares_ or @super_poussin with a PM (or contact whocares at rnxtras.com)

Re: Squid or Other Proxy Server
Generally speaking, on an RNOS6 ReadyNAS you can easily install Squid using the standard Debian repositories:
apt-get update apt-get install squid3
The drawback there is that you'd have to tweak the configuration manually so that Squid won't write it's cache to the OS partition of your ReadyNAS, e.g. to have it write to /data/.squid (if your data partition is named "data" as would be the default).

Re: Squid or Other Proxy Server
Hi,
thanx guys for the fast response.
@WhoCares_: Thanx for the info. Supposed the package has to be compiled especially. Will give it a try.
Greetings
Chris
