Update via SSH & USB Stick??
Does anyone know how to apply an update via usb through ssh? I currently have 6.1.4 running on a Pro2, but lost access to the web GUI, so I can't do the update to 6.1.5. I still have SSH access and can use the shares in Windows. I believe the admin account was lost somehow when I tried to add the Pro2 to my ReadyCloud.
Hoping the firmware update will restore the admin account. Unless someone else has ideas??

Re: Update via SSH & USB Stick??
Don't need a USB stick:
# cd /var/readynasd
# wget ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-300/ReadyNASOS-6.1.5-x86_64.zip
# unzip R*.zip
# rm *.html *.zip
# echo /var/readynasd/ReadyNASOS-6.1.5-x86_64.img > /etc/.flash_update
# rn_shutdown -r

Re: Update via SSH & USB Stick??
Thanks mgdm! That did update the firmware to 6.1.5, but unfortunately it did not restore the "admin" user.
I SSH'd in successfully, an issued a "passwd admin" command, and it came back with:
"user 'admin' does not exist"
Any way to restore the admin account / user?

Re: Update via SSH & USB Stick??
Nope - that did do it either.
Any other ideas? Can I get a screen grab of some directory or file contents? Would that help diagnose what happened?

Re: Update via SSH & USB Stick??
Do you have a backup of your data?
Perhaps do a factory default, then restore data from backup.

Re: Update via SSH & USB Stick??
Luckily, Yes - All data is backed up. Was saving this as a last resort.

Re: Update via SSH & USB Stick??
Well 6.1.5 has a nodesize and leafsize change that requires the creation of a new volume, so a factory default would be what I would recommend.
