Accessing D7000/AC1900 now that it's in modem mode
Hello Everyone – I hope that you can help with the following:
I’m using an old D7000/AC1900 as a modem with a AX2400 RX30 router and it’s working correctly but now that the D7000 is in modem mode I can access/interrogate the device. I’m connected to the D700 via the yellow Ethernet ports & used this to put the D7000 in to modem mode in the first place, but since selecting modem mode I can’t access the D7000 via Ethernet.
My second question is this – I can see my internet connection status in the setting of the AX2400 RX30 but I cant see the connection speed/bandwidth

Modem mode disables that, which is the whole point of the procedure.

Tried Speedtest on the Nighthawk App? That tests through the modem.

If you absolutely feel that you need to access the D7000 your only choice is to factory reset the D7000 and then you can access it again to put it back in modem only mode! 🙂

There can be ways of getting in – I used to do it on my D6400 – but they involve going into Windows and messing around with the IP address of the PC. Then again, if all you want to do is to update the firmware, a simple reset is probably easier.
Is there even any value in updating firmware in a modem/router in modem only mode? I'd assumed that the router is in charge of things like security.
But, to be honest, I can't see much point in the GUI on a modem only box. (I haven't needed to get into my DM200.) Once the modem is set up and working there's not much that you can do with the browser graphical user interface.
