Got a D7000 the other day and plugged into my adsl line. It was very responsive for a short while, and then the genie would tell me I am not connected to the internet, even though the light is white and I had stats.
From one of the computers I did a ping to 8.8.8.8
they were fluctuating between 2000ms up to 8500ms. I would do a change like the mtu to 1544 and apply it. When the connection came back up from the change it would show a ping of 30-40ms for about 30s to 5 mins or sometimes a bit more then they would shoot back up to 6000-8000
I have been requested to change the MTU and that has not fixed it, also tried all firmwares available.
I went and swapped the unit at my local store today. It ran for about 3 hrs then started to do the same again!
Netgear support seem to be a bit disinterested now as it seem to tick the too hard box
