Can not connect nighthawk x4s ac2600 to the internet.

I’m stuck trying to set my new Nighthawk X4S-AC2600 WiFi VDSL/ADSL Modem Router(D7800) to the internet. Keeps on coming up with an error I’ve tried the MAC address and it just leads me back to the dsl cable again. I have internet when I use my Telstra modem but I really don’t want to run the Telstra modem and the night hawk together.

"trying" how, exactly?  Firmware version?  Connected to what?

Huh?  "an error"?  "tried"?  None of that is a useful problem
description.  It does not say what you did.  It does not say what
happened when you did it.  As usual, showing actual actions (commands)
with their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be
more helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Aside from the basic
set-up instructions, look for the LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".

Re: Can not connect nighthawk x4s ac2600 to the internet.

So I’ve set it how it is instructed.
I am currently stuck at a page which reads
“Problem detecting the internet connection”
And then it follows with 2 likely reasons.
1 power cycling and 2 the dsl/Ethernet cable is not fully inserted.
My firmware is version V1.0.1.56
I clicked none of the above and then “next” which takes me to another page which says “Problem Detecting the internet connection-Ip address” I haven’t got a isp so I clicked no I did not get a fixed(static) IP address from my isp. Clicked “next”
Same text shows but this time instead of IP it’s asking for my MAC address.
I enter the MAC address that is in my Telstra modem. And it takes me all the way back to the screen which reads”problem detecting the internet connection”
The LED lights are all white except USB ports and Ethernet 1-4. 2.4 and 5ghz are flashing white. I have read into the user manual and still cannot access the internet with this modem router

Which ISP is this?

But hang on, what is this all about?

You haven't got an ISP? Of course it will not connect to the Internet.

Perhaps you mean you haven't got an IP address.

So what are you doing?

DSL ISPs rarely tie connections to a MAC address. At least, it doesn't come up here.

I fear that you are over-complicating the issue.

Does this mean that the Internet LED is solid white? That is a sign that you are successfully connected.

I'd go back to basics. Reset the device, connect it and see what happens when you run the Internet setup wizard. Or read the bit in the manual:

Use the Internet Setup Wizard After Initial Setup

If that fails, then your ISP will be able to tell you the login details you need. Often it is simply a case of using your email address at the ISP as the username and ignoring the password slot.

You should have these details for setting up the ISP's modem. They may even appear on the ISP's website.

How are you determining this? What are you trying to connect? And what tells you that it failed?

The state of the LEDs, if you have described them accurately, suggests that you are connected.
