Re: D7000 replacement
So you're just looking for a router?
How much area are you trying to cover?
How many devices?
What do you use if for?
What's your budget? (sadly, important)
Is there any special features/things you're wanting?

I need to replace my D7000 Nighthawk router ...
Why? What do you want to do that you can't do now?
Try plugging your needs into the filters on the product pages:
Wireless Routers for Home | NETGEAR
and
Orbi: Whole Home WiFi System for Better WiFi Everywhere | NETGEAR
Then check back here for reports on the things you are considering, but remember that people turn up in this community with problems, not compliments. So look at reviews on Amazon, for example.

Re: D7000 replacement
It sounds like you don't need a device with a modem. I'd look at external reviews and go from there. I've been a fan of Tom's guide and here's a link to his ranking of best routers for 2022.

I need to replace my D7000 Nighthawk router which is connected to a Vodafone modem/router so it does not need to work as a modem. What would everyone recommend?
If you are using the D7000 as an access point, and bypassing the modem bit, you may not even ned a router. A wifi extender might do whatever it is that you want to achieve.
If you do buy a router, check that yoi can configure the unnamed Vodafone modem/router as a bridge (modem only) device.
Any ISPs,especially on the UK, like to provide modem/routers that do not support, or allow, bridge mode.
