D7800 5G drops out

D7800 5G drops out
Purchased R7800 X4s AC2600 in June 2018 -worked great on both bands for a few months, then started short dropouts on the 5G band. Now the 5G band drops out completely (does not show on wifi analyser apps or devices) and does not come back unless I power cycle the R7800 router. Do these thing wear out in 6 months? First (and possibly last ) netgear purchase. Latest firmware is installed. Any suggestions?
I found one suggestion to change the 5G channel, so I moved it from 153 to 161 today, but there was no competition on 153 at all according to my wifi analyzer app so I am not optimistic about that "fix".

The recommendation is to revert to firmware 1.0.2.52.
