D8500 [not R8500] USB 3.0 port not working
I have a D8500 Modem Router not a R8500 firmware V1.0.3.39_1.0.1.
Currently working as Wireless AP mode [don't ask]. I am to use the USB 2.0 but the USB3.0 won't work with the same HDD, ext USB 3.0 HDD or any 3.0 USB flash drive.
Is there a solution that doesn't mean reverting to a previous firmware?
All constructive suggestions welcome, thank you in advance.

Might get more hardware specific replies if you post in the right bit of this forum:

People over there know more about DSL modems and routers.

Search the forum, any areas, to find out about USB3 issues. The topic comes up several times a week.

Re: D8500 [not R8500] USB 3.0 port not working
Power down your router
Remove any HDD in the USB 3 port.
Power up the router without any HDD in the USB 3 port.
When the router is up and has completely "settled", plug your HDD into the USB 3 port - it should now be recognized (at least in R8000 this is the only thing that works).
You will need to do this any time you power down the router - or - reboot the router. It cannot boot up with anything in the USB 3 port.

Thank you for the suggested solution tried following this several time with no success both with a external HDD (sata 3.0) and a portable USB 3.0 HDD.
