DLNA and the DGND3700v2

I recently bought the DGND3700v2 here in Brisbane, Australia to replace my modem +WNDR3700 router (which didn't play well with my android devices). Firmware is V1.1.00.12_1.00.12

I previously used my WNDR3700 as a DLNA media sever in conjunction with my 1TB seagate AC powered USB HDD and it worked great with my Xbox 360 and PS3. The consoles could see the HDD and stream media from it perfectly.

I therefore assumed the DGND would perform the same, but unfortunately the Xbox does not see the DLNA at all and the PS3 sees it but only folder deep, in that the media files do not show up at all. I have checked the health of the hard drive using my PC and it has no problems.

Even worse than this is that if I have the HDD plugged in to the USB on the DGND3700v2, after 30 mins or an hour the machine will stop working, displaying a red light and I think one blue light and will require a power cycle to get it going again.

I'm extremely disappointed with this as it seems to me it is not fit for purpose. I would have returned it to JB Hifi but unfortunately I bought it before going on my honeymoon and I noticed the trouble after more than 30 days of purchase. I may still ask them for a refund and put the money towards a different brand of gateway and if so I'll do more research next time!

What I would prefer is just for a firmware update to fix this issue, and also the slight instability in my connection since using this gateway.

Thanks for reading and I would appreciate any suggestions to help fix this preferably without spending any more money.

Re: DLNA and the DGND3700v2

My v2 never gets down indexing--and crashes while indexing and starts over on reboot. Gave up on using DGND3700v2 as DLNA server.

As it turns out, ReadyShare had so many problems that I gave up using it too and moved the disk to a host that actually works when serving up an NTFS file system via SMB.

Re: DLNA and the DGND3700v2

To overcome the problem connect empty hdd and start adding your files in batches eg 1000 at once, let router index it and start another batch. I had exactly the same problem when connected 1TB hdd nearly full of data, router was rebooting during indexing, when I started with empty hdd moving my folders from another hdd problem dissapeared.

Hope it helps someone
