I have a Nighthawk AC 1900 D7000 and want to upgrade the firmware. I logged into my account on Netgear and found the latest version and downloaded the zip file. I unzipped the file and when I clicked on it to open, it takes me to Cyberlink Photo Director. Totally confused what happened - I want to upgrade firmware on my router and the file takes me to photo editing software! What happened? How do I get the right file to update my firmware?

Which "the zip file"? While you were there (wherever that was), did
you also fetch/read the "Release Notes" file/page, which includes the
installation instructions?

Ok.

Which "it"? That's not part of the installation instructions. Your
(unspecified) computer OS has no idea what to do with this ".img" file.
The router knows. Follow the installation instructions.

You may already have it. Follow the installation instructions.
Note that there's a D7000 (plain/"v1") and a D7000v2. Be sure that
you got the right firmware kit for your model. Then follow the
installation instructions.
