Set up connecting nighthawk d700 to gateway modern

I'm trying to connect my nighthawk d700 to gateway modern(gateway Max TG799vac)through cables so I can turn off the gateway wireless, So I can still use my net and log into my nighthawk with an internet browser.
Can anyone help

i have tryed this and it doesnt give me a ip address, i have to remove the cable from the red port to be able to use my modem again
