Trying to change from PPPoE to DHCP? - DGN2200v4 – N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router
Hi everyone,
Hoping someone can help. Im hopeless at setting up the internet and struggle everytime. I have just moved into the complex in Little Bay (NSW) and a company called Pivit have laid down fibre to all the apartments. I am now trying to get access to this and have the DGN2200V4 modem that i previously used for ADSL2. Couple of questions.
My internet is now provisioned but I have tried pluging in my laptop to both the router/box the fibre comes into (Aurora somethig) and also the corresonding ethernet port in the wall but do not gain access. Not sure if my laptop is too old but the company have said it should just pick up the internet as soon as i open a page in the browser.
Now that i know the active port in the wall i have also tried plugging into the WAN port of my DGN2200 via ethernet cable but have the red light for internet access. I have been told i need to change to DHCP not PPPoE but im struggling to find how to do this in the router settings. WEhe i go to internet the only to drop down boxes seem to be PPPoE and PPPoA.
Is it strange that both by Laptop cannot connect directly and also the router is struggling but obviously picking up some sort of line. The Pivit help desk can also see my PC connected when im talking to them and cant find faults on their end? Not that keen on the $200 technician callout....
Cheers!

Set Does your Internet connection require a login? to No. That will disable PPP.
Is your laptop set up to obtain an IP address automatically? You may want to open a Command Prompt and run ipconfig /all to confirm that it is obtaining a valid IP address, default gateway and DNS server addresses. Without all 3, your laptop will not have full Internet connectivity.
