Re: Wake On Lan : Can't forward to broadcast IP 255.255.255.255
IP addresses ending with .255 are blocked and cannot be used. Addresses that end in .255 are broadcasting addresses and the info sent to those addresses gets broadcasted to entire network. Netgear and majority of other networking companies block access to .255 IP addresses to protect against a security issue called Smurf attack which is basically a distributed denial-of-service attack in which large numbers of ICMP(ping) packets with the intended victim's spoofed source IP are broadcast to an entire computer network using an IP broadcast address. So for that reason we do not allow it.
For WOL (wake on lan) implantations sometimes there is a way to trick the device to forward WOL packet without using .255 address you can use this link if interested in trying it out http://www.wolcenter.com/faq.php
