"Late Packets" and performance of router
Morning all, trying to troubleshoot some issues with apps such as MS Teams momentarily freezing and have narrowed it down to latency spikes. Attached image shows the sort of things I get from a computer connected via RJ45 to the router.
This is a home network, but it has 3 further access points and ~20 devices with a mixture of wifi / cabled.
All investigation points to the ISP supplied router struggling with the number of connections. My real problem is all "performance" figures for routers tell me about ac/n/g/ax and how great the wi-fi is. I need to know what router has enough horsepower to process / manage / route the connections, i.e. CPU / memory or whatever.
I have an R6300 lying around but it's a few years old and again, not sure if it'll do what I'm after. Focus is on performance not wifi speed and I'm open to any suggestions
Many thanks
