5Ghz link speed stuck at 54Mbps Dgnd 3700

The 5Ghz link speed is reporting 54Mbps to my Tablet next to the router. From a range extender I get reported link speed of 351Mbps. DGND3700 V1.0.0.17. I have seen very old posts reporting same results as a problem, but no solution. Does this affect throughput. I need the extender to get good results.

Re: 5Ghz link speed Dgnd 3700

I remember having a similiar problem back in the day. I had to set it toWPA2 TKIP+AES and then set the speed to 300Mbps. Then after a few days I could go back and set it to WPA2 AES only with speed of 300Mbps and all was well. I was able to get the higher wireless speeds with the TKIP+AES too, it just bugged me that I had TKIP set when I didn't want it.

Re: 5Ghz link speed Dgnd 3700

Mine is set WPA2-PSK (AES) Channel 36 up to 300. But the analyser app only shows 54 Mbps. I have tried the other security options and reset it a couple of times to no avail.

Re: 5Ghz link speed Dgnd 3700

Out of curiosity what is the analyzer you're using and what does it show the max rate at on your 2.4Ghz band? And are you running the stock Netgear firmware on your 3700v1?

Re: 5Ghz link speed Dgnd 3700

I am using KAIBITS network signal info. 2.4 shows 144Mbps. The router 3700 is linked to a Tp Link Re 200 Range Extender Speed App shows 10.9 download for 2.4 and 11.5 for 5 Ghz good solid signal all over the house now but I have to use  different SSID for the 5G Re 200 or it gets confused and drops out. Stock firmware for 3700 Europe

Re: 5Ghz link speed Dgnd 3700

PS.  The App shows a link speed to the Re 200 of 263 Mbps which is why I am confused.I presume the router to the Re 200 is 54Mbps and the Re to the tab is higher.

Re: 5Ghz link speed Dgnd 3700

A range extender typically cuts your bandwidth in half. What does your app show if you connect the the SSID of the DGND3700? In my own network I use another router as an Access Point which is wired to my DGND3700. This way I Get the extended range without the speed loss. I also run the custom Transmission firmware discussed in another thread on these forums.

Re: 5Ghz link speed Dgnd 3700

The app shows the slow 54 Mbps link speed connected to the 5Ghz SSID xxxx 5G on the Netgear 3700 with the Re200 disconnected. The link speed to the Re200 SSID xxxx-5G_Ext is much higher at 263 Mbps.  However I presume the link speed from the the 3700 to the Re 200 is 54. My old Netgear router was only 2.4 as is my PC but my Tab is 5. Range direct to the 3700 at 2.4 was acceptable, not good, but on 5G was unusable. Watson the link to the custom firmware? Will it work on 3700V1 in UK. The firmware for European 3700 is very old and not the same as US due to raise restrictions.

PIck you correct wifi Region if you had not done so, and change your 5ghz channel from something other than 36 (default). Preferrably, in the high 100's if in North America, and, test again.

Re: 5Ghz link speed Dgnd 3700

His

The only choice is 36 or 44 in Europe. It makes no difference which I pick. The speed to the Tp Link extender on 44 is over 300Mbps but the speed to the Netgear 3700 is 54Mbps, so I presume the speed between the two is 54. They are on different SSID and due to lack of range at 5Ghz it's one or other depending on room. 2.4 is on channel 2 and consistent 144 speed over the whole house. The extender makes for a very strong signal and because they share the same SSID one 2.4 give faster streaming for the TV. I looked at the Netgear wireless range extender but it was expensive and not as neat. I am happy with the performance but the analysis does not make sense. A couple of years ago other threads reported the same problem but it was unresolved. I am reluctant to try custom firmware, or cables, even mains sockets limit the router location, so I guess I will live with it..I may change the router to one that blocks interference better but the router needs to be out of sight and that's not easy.
