Antenna broken Nighthawk D7800, no wifi now
Antenna 2 has just become very loose and apparently disconnected, and now we have no wifi signal from the router (of course, nobody knows how it happened – it must have been the cat). There's no light to indicate a functional wifi – it's not just a case of restricted range. Is it normal that one broken/disconnected antenna would cause the wifi to fail? What can I do?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for the LED
descriptions and "Troubleshoot". Pay particular attention to the "WiFi
On/Off button with WiFi LED". Did you (or the cat) press it? (Further
reading might be helpful, too.)
I wouldn't expect one limp antenna to disable completely the radios,
but that On/Off button can be pretty effective.

Show the cat the picture of the buttons from the User Manual, and
explain the need for care? Tape an inverted bottle cap over the
buttons, and skip the lecture to the cat? As usual, many things are
possible.

Re: Antenna broken Nighthawk D7800, no wifi now
Thanks 🙂 It's a smart cat... I'll try explaining.
And I'd just pushed the wifi LED again (nothing happened when I did it before posting, after resetting and powering off and on), but it's come back on now and all is fine. Except the loose and floppy antenna, ut I guess I don't even need it.
Cheers

"pushed" how, exactly?

Did you? Did you get so far as "Use the WiFi On/Off Button"?

Re: Antenna broken Nighthawk D7800, no wifi now
I'm not great at this forum stuff, but in answer to your questions, I pressed the wifi LED and the light came on and the wifi subsequently worked. Magic.
And re the suggestion to read the bit about USe the WIFI On/OFF button... I didn't, cause it was working.
Your input was much appreciated 🙂
