Attached Devices causes router web services to stop working
Hi,
I'm have a problem with the router where each time I click on the "Attached Devices" option. The Configuration Web Services/Wizard on the router stops working. The internet connection still works fine however I am no longer able to login to the router - The only way I'm able to recover and log back in is to restart the router.
This occurs each and every time I choose to view attached devices option.
I've only just noticed this occuring recently, I've added a few virtual machines (vmware workstation version) to the network and this might be causing some sort of overrun buffer causing the web software on the router to crash - possible security concerns???
Has anyone else seen this issue before?

Different model, different firmware, different spot on the router's
Web site, but it sure sounds similar:

Re: Attached Devices causes router web services to stop working
Thanks for the link,
I'm sure I reset to factory and re-entered settings manually, this was sometime ago - more than a year or two ago.
There hasn't been any updates since and I've added firewall rules and custum ports - the amount of ports configured has hit the limt on the router (my son plays too many games and some games need different ports etc,..)
I wasn't aware you could telnet into these devices, which is very concerning, telnet is clear text as is http. tbh I couldn't be arsed about looking further into this, doing the work to resovle this. I was/am hoping to learn as litle as possible about these modems and hoping that Netgear can resolve this quickly or provide recommended fixes.
If there is no fix and seemingly the same interface is used to manage the router then I'll look towards another vendor, the ASUS AC88u seems to be the flavour of the month.

Could be a different cause with a similar effect. I wouldn't bet
that the bug I found was the only one anywhere.

Probably not a concern. Telnet access is normally disabled. The
"telnetenable" program sends a magic message to the router to enable
it.

I started out that way, but got more curious when I found my attempts
to get even an acknowledgement from Netgear support seemed to be about
as effective as they would have been if directed at outer space.
