Can’t connect to internet

I brought this modem, unhooked my old working modem hooked up this one and says no internet and won’t connect. Any suggestions please?
If I put the old one back in it connects

Did you configure it correctly? Userid and password typically need to be provided. If the rest of the settings are not auto detected you will also need to provide those too. All required settings should be available from your ISP.

   Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for
"Troubleshooting".
