D6300 UDP Timeout

Hello

I am using a D6300 with firmware version V1.0.0.90_1.0.90 connected to a 20Mbps ADSL provided by Telecom Italia.

No problem with TCP/IP connections.

Using the Cisco VPN Client for IPSec with NAT Traversal (IKE UDPport 500 and ESP UDP port 4500) and the Skype for Business 2016 MSO client carrying audio packets (UDP port RTP) I always face a timeout problem.

After exactly 600s (5 minutes) after the connection has been opened no more UDP packets are received from the remote peer.

It seems that there is a 600s timeout on the UDP NAT translation in the D6300 firmware that doesn’t take the flowing traffic into account, i.e. even if the UDP ports are not in idle a 600s timeout triggers.

Can anyone confirm this? In the case, is there any upgrade to the D6300 firmware to fix the problem?

Thanks

Re: D6300 UDP Timeout

Hello epalanc

There is version .96 available also you may want to adjust your MTU values to see if that will stop the timeouts.

Re: D6300 UDP Timeout

Thanks DarrenM

I don’t think that a change of the MTU size can solve this problem.

In the 600s window where all is working I can exchange thousands of UDP packets without any problem.

The same packets, with the same UDP size, can be exchanged indefinitely, without any timeout, if I switch the network connection to my iPhone used as 4G tethering device.

Re: D6300 UDP Timeout

Today I have anyway upgraded the firmware to version V1.0.0.96_1.1.96 as you suggested, but anything has changed.. same UDP timeout problems.

Ettore
