D6400 Modem Only
Hi, I'm on the latest firmware for my model: V1.0.0.74_1.0.74 and my ISP is BT here in the UK
BT have just recently got my new fibre connection installed and they provided me with their own Home Hub v6 which I binned straight away for my D6400
I want to use my ASUS RT-AC68U router as it's got my DD-WRT firmware installed but can't seem to get it to work with the Netgear D6400, I've tried putting the 6400 into modem only mode but no success, the ASUS is saying the Internet is disconnected.
Can this setup be accomplished? Or am I resigned to just using my D6400?
TIA

Re: D6400 Modem Only
I run the D6400 as a (modem only) front end into BT for an R7000P and an R7800. (Not at the same time, and in both cases with "non standard" firmware, albeit from Netgear.) So there should be nothing to stop you using another router behind the D6400.
The symptoms you describe are typical of a network that has not been started in the right order.
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
- Turn off and unplug the modem.
- Turn off the modem router and computers.
- Plug in the modem and turn it on. Wait 2 minutes.
- Turn on the modem router and wait 2 minutes.
- Turn on the computers.
In this way devices on the network will not be hanging on to addresses that are no longer relevant.
