D6400 and WPS

I have had a D6400 for a few days.

When I first got the router I unchecked the box next to "Enable Router's PIN"

I have never used the WPS button on the router.

Now it says "Enable Router's PIN (disabled because an attack is detected)"

What does this mean - is someone trying a brute force attack, on my WPS PIN or WPA key or both?

thank you

Re: D6400 and WPS

Hello parkcollege

WPS is not always the most secure thing to have on so some people like to have it disabled I would suggest keeping it off if you do not use it.

Re: D6400 and WPS

Darren

Thank you for your reply. A few further questions:

- Does unchecking the box next to 'enable routers pin' disable wps?
-if not how do I know if wps is enabled/disabled?
-why, after unchecking the box next to 'enable routers pin' does it now say 'disabled because attack detected'?

Thanks

James

Re: D6400 and WPS

Hello parkcollege

I have checked with my equipment the message just looks like a default message mine said that as well it does not mean a attack happened. But I do not think it will matter if you have the pin on or off if you are never using the WPS button and no one that you do not want to connect to it has access to push that button.
