D6400 wont upgrade to the 1.0.0.88

Hello,
Currently my d6400 is on V1.0.0.86 and the web interface say it is a new version available v1.0.0.88 I click yes, it starts downloading, installing...rebooting and than after a login, i see again V1.0.0.86

Do they test they work before they release?

Do i habe to do it manually? Anybody tried?

Thank you

I had the same problem... did it through the Netgear Genie page using both the "update firmware" button at top of page, and through the Advanced- router update menu options on the LH side of page. Seemed to be downloading with 'petrol gauge' bar moving (took about 2 mins to completed) but the icon on the page carried on rotating for 30 mins with no action, so I logged off. I then tried the other way suggested on this forum. I downloaded v1.0.0.188.chk from the Netgear website on to desktop then opened the Netgear Genie menu page again, opened 'Advanced" then "Administration" then 'Router update" . Clicked the 'Browse" button to locate upgrade file from desktop and pressed "upload' and Voila! it worked! All went a bit blank but when I logged on again to Netgear to check, the new upgrade was shown. Hope this helps others.

   Evidence for that is sparse.

   If I had a D6400, then I'd try that.

I had the same problem...Had to download and manually upgrade.
Kinda wish I hadn't as the router has been a bit buggy since then!

Re: D6400 wont upgrade to the 1.0.0.88

The router becomes unresponsive and I'll have to power it off and back on again...I should probably factory reset, but I haven't had time to yet... 😕

"unresponsive" to _what_?  LED indicators freeze?  Management web
site dies?  Some part of Internet access fails (when you try some
specific action)?  Other?

"unresponsive" is not a very useful problem description.  It does not
say what you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As
usual, showing actual actions with their actual results (error messages,
LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.

Re: D6400 wont upgrade to the 1.0.0.88

Had I been the OP, looking for help, I may have given a full description.
As it stands, it was just an off the cuff remark.

But seeing as you asked, unresponsive means that the internet drops and if you log into it, the UI doesn't respond / fully load.

As mentioned previously, when I have time, I'll probably reset the unit...

Not a big improvement.  Does "the internet drops" mean a DNS failure,
or a general communication failure, or what?  LEDs?  See "As usual,
[...]", above.  If the router is "unresponsive", then how can "you log
into it"?  Is there an actual error message associated with "the UI
doesn't respond"?  What does "[not] fully load" mean?

> As it stands, it was just an off the cuff remark.

As it stands, it's approximately useless as a problem description.
See "is not a very useful problem description [...]", above.  Are you
trying to convey vague unhappiness, or useful information about your
problem?

I don't need your help.
It was remark, not a cry for help, so you can simmer down now.

Did you reset the router to factory settings after the firmware flash?

New firmware sometimes introduces changes that are not compatible with the old configuration.

So while it isn't guaranteed to fix problems a factory reset is the first thing to try if you have issues with new firmware.

This is a nuisance because you then have to reconfigure the device all over again.

You can backup your settings before you reset and restore them later. But that may just bring back the fault. Then again, at least you will know if the reset fixed the problem.

I did the manual update yesterday. I confess that the thing is just sitting there waiting for me to try it on my second line. (I switched to a DM200 + R7800 combination.) So I can't say of there are bugs in the new version.
