D700 Knighthawk
On Sunday night my D700 Nighthawk dropped the internet and even after multiple rebooting it refuses to connect, the orange light is now always on. My line is fine, checked by Openreach. Had to delve into the attic to get an old BT Router out, hunt for the adapter and managed to get back online. Any ideas as to why and can it be fixed? We have had bad weather and a power cut, but it failed a few days later...

D7000[v1] or D7000v2? Look at the product label. Firmware version?
Connected to what?

Which one is "the orange light"?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for the
LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".

From a description like "the orange light is now always on"? Not
even a guess.

As always, an actual version number would be more useful than your
opinion of what was "newest", "a few months ago".

That's what Netgear calls the "Internet" LED?

Did you?

All of them? Including the USB port-status LEDs? Have you USB
devices connected?

Is that the Internet LED or the DSL LED?
Have you taken the thing through the startup wizard? It should detect the settings for BT.
Have you tried a factory reset?
I realise that this is the standard "I don't have a clue" response, but if all else fails...
Do the router's logs have any useful information?
