D7000/R7000 bricked after SW reboot

After attempting a SW reboot due to consistently dropping wifi, the router has been completely unresponsive with only the dsl and internet connection LEDs illuminated even when only the power cable is connected, honestly I am at a loss as what to do next.

After trying to reset to factory settings and hard resets from other threads I have had no luck, even attempting to get into recovery mode yielded nothing, even the power LED is still off, I'm beginning to thing this is a hardware fault.
Please help!

Re: D7000/R7000 bricked after SW reboot

Got it figured out.

Found another thread and combined info from that and this thread.

Used info found in https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/SOLVED-Steps-for-debrick-unresponsive-R7000-...

Key points:

* Turn on TFTP service in Windows Features through the Control Panel

* Did not use the downloadable tool ... I used the cmd line tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put firmware-file-name

ex. C:\Users\Dave>tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT C:\Users\Dave\Downloads\R7000-V1.0.7.2_1.1.93\R7000-V1.0.7.2_1.1.93.chk

To be more specific with the steps:

1. Turned on TFTP features in Windows Features in the Control Panel

2. Downloaded firmware for my router to my PC.

3. Connected ethernet cable from my PC to the router... removed all other cables so only one cable connected to Router.

4. Set static IP address on my PC enternet connection (as described in this thread)

5. Powered up the router until the power light was blinking white, every second. Could not get into any green light mode.

6. from cmd window entered "tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT C:\Users\Dave\Downloads\R7000-V1.0.7.2_1.1.93\R7000-V1.0.7.2_1.1.93.chk"

7. about 2-3 min later, router rebooted.

Hope this helps.

What's the exact model number of your NETGEAR device?

Re: D7000/R7000 bricked after SW reboot

I tried updating firmware today Sept 7 2016, bricked.

Support says warranty expired. But I can purchase PREMIUM support for $150.
I'm not going to spend $150 on an organization that can't support firmware update's.
I've purchased 4 netgear products over the years. Guess that was my last.

Officially disatisfied.

Oh wait! I've purchase 7 products in the past. Sorry. My bad all around.

Hello dave1234567

I would suggest trying to load the firmware via TFTP to see if it will unbrick the device I linked a article on how to do this.

Hi Darren, would you mind trying to help me out considering I started this thread and another mod has seemingly abandoned me?

Hello Sauber-C10

Did you try the method I suggested in the last post?

Re: D7000/R7000 bricked after SW reboot

I apprecieate you response.

I am unable to get past step 10 on http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22688/~/how-to-upload-firmware-to-a-netgear-router-usi...

While holding the Reset button and powering on the router, the Power light comes on orange for a few seconds, then all/most lights come on, the power light dims to a dimmed white, then all/most lights go back off and the power light goes to orange/amber. This cycle repeats as long as I hold the reset button in. If I release the reset button I end up with a white flashing power light and the port where the enthernet cable is plugged into lit white.

I tried the update anyway and it fails with the message that it could not reach the server.

I have an R7000.

Any thoughts?
