D7000 v1/V2 Differance

I would like to know if there is any differance in the modem chipset between the V1 and V2 before I buy.

I believe the V1 has a Broadcom BCM63138 1ghz

Thanks

Re: D7000 v1/V2 Differance

I have crossed this off my list if Netgear cannot reply to a pre sales question (e-mailed separetly from this post) then I will not spend this sort of money. Bad news if there is a problem after the unit is bought and any support is needed.

I would also be interested in knowing the difference.

I understand V1 had issues with ipv6 so would like to know if v2 fixes this.

Thanks

What were those issues with IPv6?

Re: D7000 v1/V2 Differance

I have found that the V2 (which seems to be what most of the retailers are carrying now) is missing the WAN port. VERY frustrating as support can't tell me how to connect the V2 to my fiber modem. The router modem AT&T gave me has a special WAN port on it also. Looks like i'm staying with what AT&T provided.

Reading the User Manual could relieve much of that frustration.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in the model number, and look for
Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Look for "Internet WAN port".  You
could point this out to "support" at your next opportunity, and make the
world a better place.

That non-description conveys no useful information.  Does this
"router modem AT&T gave me" come with some kind of model number?  What,
exactly, is "special" about its WAN port?

Re: D7000 v1/V2 Differance

If I could ascertain it from the manual I wouldn't need to call support. The manual for the V2 version, is clearly not updated, as it refers to connecting the D7000 to the Fiber Modem by plugging the ethernet cable into the Red WAN port - which the v2 does not have.

The Modem AT&T gave me is a Pace 5286AC with a dedicate WAN port and 4 LAN ports - just like the D7000-v1.

Did you look at page 15, where it describes the "Internet WAN port"?

o Internet WAN port. One Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 WAN port to
connect the modem router to a fiber or cable modem. This port
can also be used as an Ethernet port if you set up a DSL
        Internet connection.

"Figure 3. Modem router back panel" pretty clearly indicates the fine
print on the special "LAN 4 / Ethernet WAN" port.  It's not complicated.

It's clearly not all updated, and not well updated, but it clearly is
updated.  For more complaints about the manual:

      https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1422574

The Netgear people who review the documentation appear to be about as
diligent as the ones who test the firmware.

"Dedicated" would have been clearer than "special" the first time.

Did you read the manual for the D7000 v2?

Find it somewhere at the end of this link::

See page 15:

"You can use either the DSL port or the Internet port for WAN connectivity."

Looks like V2 = Intel.

The CPU in the v2 is also faster at 1.6Ghz instead of 1Ghz. Thats quite a jump.
