D7000v2 Firmware update from 1.0.0.80_1.0.1 to 1.0.0.82_1.0.1 drops DSL and Internet

I have Nighthawk AC1900 D7000v2 connected to Centurylink DSL (VDSL2) at 60Mbps with firmware 1.0.0.80_1.0.1. I updated firmware to 1.0.0.82_1.0.1 and lose internet. The Internet light and the DSL light on the modem are both OFF.

I restore to 1.0.0.80_1.0.1 and everything works fine.

The check for new version of firmware declared I was up to date with 1.0.0.80_1.0.1. The Netgear website shows 1.0.0.82_1.0.1 as current version so I downloaded from there and did manual update. The unzipped file indicates D7000v2-V1.0.0.82_1.0.1.chk.

Any suggestions other than to stay with .80?

Are you saying that the thing died as a result of the update?

You cannot connect with that firmware version?

The very act of changing the firmware may well have re-established the connection. It might have had nothing to do with the firmware. It could have been the reboot that went with the update.

Did you try a simple reboot?

Did you try a reset after the update?

What does the connection log show?

That's not a reliable test.

Your call. The "security updates" that firmware claims to fix rarely seem to be anything dramatic. They set out to block holes that m,ay never show up in the real world, just something founmd in a lab somewhere where people go out of their way to break into networks.

o

Thank you your comments.

Are you saying that the thing died as a result of the update?

-No. After update to .82 he wifi was connecting my devices to the modem and my computer could communicate with it via routerlogin.net; just no internet connection and DSL light was also off. I think Windows troubleshooter reset my adapter in the computer but could not fix problem. Also no DNS at some point,.

-Yes. There was a reboot that went with the upgrade. No internet after that. Tried rebooting again as well as power off/on and unplug. No internet.

Did you try a reset after the update?

-No, I did not try a factory reset. Was beginning to suspect firmware update.

What does the connection log show?

-Not sure to what log you are referring. Genie showed Advanced Tab>Internet Port>Connection Status

Connection StatusOff
NegotiationOff
AuthenticationOff
IP Address0
Subnet Mask0

or something similar.

-I concur that the Firmware Check test does not seem to be reliable.

-I may live with .80 for now.
