D7000v2 MAC Address

D7000v2 Firmware 1.0.0.64_1.0.1

I've switched ISP's and no longer require the use of the modem portion of my modem/routers as the ISP has installed a fiber modem with ethernet out which I'm guessing is esentially in transparent bridge mode. I have a reserved IP from my ISP which should be set from the MAC address of my D7000v2. This was originally set up using my old DGND3700v1 MAC address which worked just fine for the last few months. When I swapped out the DGND3700v1 to a D7000v2 my ISP told me I would just need to go into my router settings - Advanced -> Setup -> WAN Setup -> Wan Preference set to "Must use ethernet WAN". Then in Advanced -> Setup -> Internet Setup -> Router MAC Address -> Use this MAC address button and fill in the MAC of my DGND3700v1. When the D7000v2 connects to my ISP it still presents the original MAC address of the D7000v2 so I do not get my reserved IP address. I've done factory reset and set everything up from scratch a couple of times and the D7000v2 still does not use the MAC address I've set in the settings as described above. I'm hoping that @DarrenM will report this to the developers to correct this problem.

Guessing?

I assume that you have followed the instructions in the manual for the  D7000v2:

Manually Set Up a Cable or Fiber Internet Connection

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

and feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

Re: D7000v2 MAC Address

As per the documentation I did a manual setup so the router would use the ethernet port instead of the DSL port as documented on page 140 of the manual. I followed the process starting on page 49 of the manual and the D7000v2 works fine in router only mode, the router just did not use the MAC address I specified as defined on page 51 of the manual for it to use as I described in the OP (Original Post). When I connect to my ISP the router presents its native MAC instead of the MAC I specified so DHCP from the ISP just gives me an IP address from their DHCP pool. I did contact my ISP and they have updated their IP address reservations with my D7000v2 MAC address and I now get my reserved IP address when I connect.

It should also be noted that the manual is incorrect on page 26 where it says to connect the ethernet cable to the red internet port on the modem router. For the D7000v2 Netgear removed the red internet port and made the yellow port 4 a combo port which is activated as the internet port when you specify "Must use Ethernet WAN" as defined on page 140 of the manual.

I'd guess that that's just another of the many persistent firmware
bugs in that model.  So far as I can tell, NAT loopback has never
worked, either.

I'd guess that it'll just be considered another intentional feature.

Re: D7000v2 MAC Address

I'm well aware of how much Netgear cares about their consumer level device users as I've been around these forums for a while.
