What do you mean by "work together"?
You want to use the Huawei as a modem in front of the D7000v2?
The Netgear device is a modem/router. You can use it as a wireless access point. (Read the manual.)
To see if the Huawei will support that, you'll have to talk to people who are familiar with that device.
You can't just stick the Huawei into the Netgear. The USB slots in that can handle storage but nothing else.

That's exactly what I want to do.
I already understood this myself. But they can also act as a print server. Perhaps there are undocumented possibilities how to solve this problem.
For example, for R7000 this is implemented in DD-WRT
Click Administration -> Commands & paste the following into the "Command Shell" input box:
Code: |
insmod usbnet insmod cdc_ether usb_modeswitch -J -v 0x12d1 -p 0x1f01 sleep 20 udhcpc -i eth3 |
After the you paste in the above, click "Save Startup".

What is implemented?
For "hacks" on Netgear devices, you should ask for help in the places that support those things.

That depends on installing software and drivers on a PC. It is not a "native" feature like storage.

It's even strange to have a device with such powerful hardware and not be able to create a backup channel.
What is this "backup channel"?
I hate to break it to you, but the D7000v2 doesn't count as "powerful hardware".
The D7000 is a mid-range DSL modem/router that dates back to 2017. DSL devices have never had the flexibility of router only devices. It is a limited market.
The C7000 cable/modem version is even older and is hobbled by Netgear's inability to update the firmware, thanks to ISPs.
The 7000 series was fine in its day, and was Netgear's workhorse engine. But technology has moved on a lot since then.
Fancy stuff like working with USB modems is relatively new. But you might be able to buy a cable modem/router that will work with your D7000v2.
