D7000v2 dropping internet and wifi freezing

D7000v2 running firmware V1.0.0.62_1.0.1

A few weeks after installing new firmware at Netgear suggestion (security update), this otherwise reliable modem/router has begun randomly dropping internet connection - no ability to access internet or routerlogin. Only solution is to power cycle.

Oddly, when it drops internet, intenet and twisted pair lights stay solid white, as do wifi radio lights (no traffic). I suspect this means that the modem part is still connected, but the router part (and wifi) thinks it is not. Have confimed with ISP that when I have no connection, ISP can see I am "connected".

Have searched boards and public info, and found no solutions, other than downgrading firmware.

Any ideas gratefully considered before I switch brands.

   Installing older firmware might reveal whether the problem lies with
the firmware, and not with some unrelated hardware problem.

I think it's likely a firmware issue, I'm thinking about looking at earlier versions but it's going to be a slow task going back and testing one version at a time until it works.
