D7800 Firmware Update to v1.0.1.47 failure

Following update I have no internet. Did a reset but no joy, I keep getting the message that there’s no DSL cable connected when going into setup.
Probably very stupid of me, but I had not backed up the settings (getting old and senile) Will the unit have to be returned to Netgear. Or is there a way to solve my problem? Obviously I can still access the internet via my ISP Modem router
Many Thanks.

Where do you see that message?
It sounds like you may be trying to set this up using the "wizard".
If so, check the bit in the manual Manually Set Up an ADSL Internet Connection.
There is also a more severe "recoery reset" that you could try:
- Press reset for 30 seconds
- Keep pressing reset while removing power
- Keep pressing reset for another 30 seconds while apply power

What do the LEDs on the thing look like? Especially the power LED.
What do you mean by reset? Power cycle? Factory reset?

All LEDs are white apart from internet light which is amber. Factory reset.
Is it possible to download the previous firmware from anywhere?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Downloads. (For older versions, under Firmware and Software
Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".) Find the kit(s).
Download the kit(s) you want. Read the "Release Notes" file for
instructions.

Re: D7800 Firmware Update to v1.0.1.47 failure
I was just about to parcel the Netgear uo when I recieved your message.
I had tried both easy setup and the manual setup, both failed. I then thought nothing to lose so tried your reset method. The D7800 is now working.
So a very, very big thankyou.
Regards
Harry

Re: D7800 Firmware Update to v1.0.1.47 failure
Freaky. Glad it worked.
I'll let you into a secret, don't tell anyone, the recovery reset is something that the Netgear folks ask people to do when beta testing new kit. That's how I found out about it.
