> Trying to update unable to do via web [...]
"Trying" _how_, exactly? "unable" is not a useful problem
description. It does not say what you did. It does not say what
happened when you did it. As usual, showing actual actions (commands)
with their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be
more helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.
> [...] - untrusted by all browsers.
Which browsers are "all browsers"? Actual error message(s)?
It's common to get complaints from a modern web browser when you use
the modem+router's management web site, because the browser is worried
about your sending some user credentials over an unencrypted/insecure
link ("http://" instead of "https://"). The easy thing to do is ignore
the warning, and proceed. Presumably, you're talking to your own gizmo
on your own LAN. If someone can overlisten to that local traffic, then
you're already in big trouble.
> [...] Unable to contact via [...] new MacBook M1 with no Ethernet
That's not the only computer on the planet, and USB/whatever-Ethernet
adapters exist. For example:
https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD463LL/A/
As usual, many things are possible.

Re: D7800
I appreciate that as computer users please bear with me. I can use one or my phone anyway but technical is not so easy to describe things.
Browsers say similar see screenshot. HTH, if I put in routerlogin.net or .com I get other screenshot
I have followed your suggestion in dropping the s and got in. It says it’s up to date and no updates. I find that strange as they told me it needed one. Oh well in that case as all is ok. I will not include screenshots
Yes there is an adapter but I don’t own one for the new C except as a usb
Thank you for your help
