DGN2200v4 Slow download speeds on WAN Port
Hi all,
I have recently been upgraded to fibre. I have a new fibre wall socket which has a BT OpenReach Modem plugged into it.
Into BT OpenReach Modem LAN 1 port (LAN 2 is not used) I have my Netgear DGN2200v4 plugged in. LAN4 on a DGN2200v4 can be used as a WAN port. I have configured this in admin (Setup -> WAN setup). Must use Ethernet WAN / Use LAN 4 as WAN. MTU is 1492.
Authenticaion is done using PPPoE, with my login for my ISP (PlusNet).
I get 18Mb upload speed. Cool!
I get 1Mb - 2Mb download speed. Not cool.
Everything is OK on PlusNet side, everything is OK at cabinet / OpenReach.
I tried a Vigor 2830n we had spare at the office. Plugged that in the same way, got 38Mb down, 15-18Mb up.
So it's obviously the Netgear.
Tried factory reset, no luck.
Ive googled until the cows come home and had no luck in finding any answers.
Anyone have any good suggestions except throw this out and buy a new router? If so, any ideas on a good replacement?

Re: DGN2200v4 Slow download speeds on WAN Port
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I tried that and got some very sporadic results. Most MTU values I tried I sometimes got the packet fragmentation errors, sometimes I didn't. Either way, on different values I was getting the usual download speeds, sometimes less. Great article though, I understand MTU a lot better now.
