DGN2200v4 unable to register NO-IP mynetgear.com domain

Hi all,

some days ago i purchased a DGN2200v4.

The first thing i made is upgrade to last firmware, and , without factory reset, after i configured it.

I wanted to use the DDNS service with mynetgear.com domain , like this tutorial explains, to avoid boring monthly email confirmation from NO-IP:

https://kb.netgear.com/23860/How-to-Setup-a-NETGEAR-Dynamic-DNS-account

On third step, clicking on REGISTER,  a 404 no page found appears, i tried with Firefox, Chrome and Edge with same result on Windows 10.

If a click on link "To manage your DDNS account click here" , i land on the classic registration NO-IP page , without the possibility to choose mynetgear.com .

Must i install a previus firmware? It could be a security check from Windows 10?

Is there another way to register, inserting after the login credentials in router configuration?

Tonight i'll attach some screenshots, and i'll try with a Windows 7.

Thanks.

Re: DGN2200v4 unable to register NO-IP mynetgear.com domain

I solved with the support that suggested the following solution I share to help other people who have the same problem:

as first they advised to register to the no-ip site and then configure access to the router, but I wanted the domain mynetgear.com and it was not available, so they suggested that you downgrade to V1.0.0.82_1.0.82 in case of problem , and i did it, with following factory reset.

With this firmware, the registration has been done successfully, but having another page with 404 problem, i did a new upgrade to 1.0.0.90: with new firmware you can set the credentials , and now it's all fully working.

I made a backup of both firmware router configuration.

Thanks to community and to support.

An actual version number would be more useful than your opinion of
what's "last".  (Especially tomorrow.)

Sounds like bad firmware.  You could try a full ("factory") reset (as
I'd expect someone to suggest), but I'd expect that not to help.
Firmware with missing/misnamed web-page files seems to be a Netgear
tradition:

(Note the quick and helpful response from Netgear.)

> Must i install a previus firmware?

That would be a reasonable experiment to run.

> It could be a security check from Windows 10?

   I very much doubt it.

I'm sorry, wrote quickly, "last" is 1.0.0.90 how product page show, for precision

V1.0.0.90_1.0.90
I have tried reset, nothing changed.
I attach some screenshots, with INSPECT PAGE from Firefox, after click on REGISTER button.

I suspect this first alert i see is the responsible...

"there are password fields in an iframe with an unsecure http connection. This is a security risk as it allows the theft of entered credentials".

What firmware do you consider the best most recent ?

Nobody has recently buyed 2200 and faced the same problem? I have found nothing searching in community forum.

That sounds to me like a complaint about using "http://" instead of
"https://" when you talk to the router.  Until Netgear changes the web
server configuration in its browsers, there's not much to be done about
that.  (Use a less fussy web browser?)  But I don't see how it could
cause a "404" error.  Bad firmware _could_ cause a "404" error (or
worse), and it has done in the past.

> What firmware do you consider the best most recent ?

No idea.  I've switched from my old DGN2200v4 to a D7000, so I
haven't updated my DGN2200v4 beyond V1.0.0.86_1.0.86.

I also don't use dynamic DNS, so I would not have noticed this
problem when I was using my DGN2200v4.  (I found my own problems with
DGN2200v4 firmware.)

"searching" how?  The Community forum search is worse than useless.
I use Google, with:

      site:community.netgear.com

in the search terms.

Even with the attempt with windows 7 the problem persists

I opened a ticket, i hope there is possibility to create account out of router through Netgear support.
