DGND3700 V1 - PPPoE problems with my ISP

Hello All,

I have a problem to connect to my ISP using PPPoE, the connection parameters are:

VPI: 8
VCI: 32
Encapsulation: LLC
Protocol: PPPoE
username (common for all users): adslppp@telefonicanetpa
password (common for all users): adslppp

I used these parameters with other routers and ALL OF THEM connect successfully (including other netgear routers as DG834Gv3 and DGN2000).
The problem is that when I setup DGND3700v1 it doesn't connect correctly. The ADSL link is correct, I see the led and the status screen displays it is connected but the PPPoE never get IP from the ISP.
I tried changing config to PPPoA and reducing the MTU, nothing works.

I also tested with Richud firmware and using SSH I see that the firmware is running this command:
pppd -c ppp0 -i atm0 -u adslppp@telefonicanetpa -p adslppp -t 1492 -f 0 -k

I killed this process and run it with -d command to get the debug output. It's the following:

~ # pppd -d -c ppp0 -i atm0 -u adslppp@telefonicanetpa -p adslppp -t 1492 -f 0 -k

The last lines are repeated forever and the connection doesn't progress.

Any idea what can be happening?? What can I do to fix this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Re: DGND3700 V1 - PPPoE problems with my ISP

you should get only one line of that [CHAP Response line, then a line starting
rcvd [CHAP Success id=0x2e

-t 1500 ?

very strange 🙂
[pppd program has been hacked/patched by broadcomm/foxconn/netgear so it can't just be replaced with a newer version easily, if it is a bug in that]

I am just working on a new firmware based on the 3800 codebase and the newest ADSL phy for the dgnd3700v1 if you want to try that, I will hopefully put out a beta next w/e. I dont think pppd has changed though if that is the problem.

Re: DGND3700 V1 - PPPoE problems with my ISP

Hello Richud,

thank you very much for your help. I will test all that I can because I want to use this router to replace a DG834V3. I also tested LuKePicci's V3 based firmware for V1 with exactly the same result. So I think it's a netgear's pppd problem but I don't get support from them.

Thanks for your help

Hello,

I've set up a router in bridge mode to test if I can connect to my ISP PPPoE using WAN port and it works:

So it may be a problem in atm device or in adsl drivers. I really don't know what can I do to fix this issue.
